PET FOOD RECALL
UPDATE:

Royal Canin is also voluntarily recalling some of their dry pet foods,
because of the new discovery that there could be a problem with the
rice protein containing the suspected melamine. The recalled diets
include:

Canine Early Cardiac EC 22
Canine Skin Support SS 21
Feline Hypoallergenic HP 23
Canine Chicken Meal and Rice Formula Senior
Canine Lamb Meal and Rice (Puppy, Adult, and Senior formulas)
Canine Rice and Catfish Meal Formula Adult

Natural Balance Pet Foods also announced that it is recalling its
Venison and Brown Rice Dry Dog Food and Venison and Green
Pea Dry Cat Food
, because of the rice protein in it that could cause
problems.

Hill's Pet Nutrition's voluntary recall now includes all forms of Hill's
Science Diet Feline Savory Cuts cans and Hill's Prescription Diet
Feline m/d, the dry food only
. They found that the m/d food contains
wheat gluten that was bought from Menu Foods, where the recall
originally began. Hill's is being proactive in dealing with the pet food
recall, as they have withdrawn any pet foods that MAY have been
contaminated. Although they have not had any problems with any of their
foods, they don't want any pet to become ill, therefore, they are
withdrawing these foods.


Some pet foods sold at major retailers like
Walmart, Safeway,
Kroger
, etc. have been recalled due to some causing kidney failure
and even death.

Menu foods sells pet food under several brands, such as
Eukanuba
and Iams
. They have recently been getting wheat gluten from a new
supplier and have found that something in certain products is causing
the kidney failure and sometimes death.

The "cuts and gravy" style foods in cans and foil packs consists of
chunks of meat in gravy. The recalled cans and pouches were from
between December 3 and March 6.

Specific 3 oz., 5.5 oz., 6 oz., and 13.2 oz. canned, and 3 oz. and 5.3 oz.
foil pouches of dog and cat food. The foods were sold under the
Eukanuba and Iams labels.

The recalled products have a code date of 6339 through 7073 and
following that, a plant code of 4197.
